Raiatea - Taha'a

Since 2004, Tahiti Pearl Regatta (TPR) has become one of the most popular, festive and publicized sailboat races in the Pacific Islands.

Tahiti Pearl Regatta

A mythical sailboat race

Each year, about forty local and international crews come together for 4 days of racing and festivities on one of the most beautiful stretches of sea in the world, in the heart of French Polynesia. The Tahiti Pearl Regatta takes place in the Leeward Islands, with races outside and on the lagoon of Taha’a and Raiatea. In the evenings, the crews gather on the beach for fun and festivities. The convivial, typically Polynesian atmosphere of the event is part of what makes it so special, including the benediction of the skippers, dance spectacles and buffets with typical Polynesian dishes. There is a reward ceremony on the last evening, followed by music and dancing until daybreak.

Crews can register in the following categories: Racing Monohull (division 1 or 2) for boats with a tonnage certificate HN Osiris; Racing Multihulls, for boats with a Multi2000 certificate; Light sails; Sailing canoes; Cruising, for boats without tonnage certificates. Boats registered in Racing compete on a handicap basis, those in Cruising compete in real time.
