An island like no other

Far from the popular tourist hubs of Bora Bora and Moorea, Rurutu offers a unique holiday experience. Rurutu stands out among the Austral Islands and all of French Polynesia.

If you’re seeking a destination “far from the madding crowds“, Rurutu is perfect for you. While there are no luxury hotels on the island, you’ll find several small and charming Tahitian Guesthouses. Staying in these guesthouses allows you to immerse yourself in the authentic Tahitian way of life, enjoying the company of the locals.

Visit the wondrous caves

One of your hosts will surely be thrilled to guide you through the local caves, such as ‘Ana Taupe’e‘ (the monster’s mouth). While Rurutu has a small lagoon, its beaches are superb for relaxing in the afternoon sun.

Keep in mind, though, that the water can be a bit chilly, with air temperatures ranging from 15 to 20°C between June and October.
